Routine Care Preserves, Protects Smiles
You know that routine care is important.
It’s why you clean your house regularly. It’s why you change the oil in your car as needed.
And it’s why you visit the dentist a few times each year for cleanings and exams, right ?
While most of us realize professional dental care should be part of our routine, you may not have been to the dentist as often as you should. We believe we can help you change that at Hillstream Dental (formerly Hubbard & Leath Dental).
Once you experience advanced general dentistry from our caring and compassionate team, we believe you might even look forward to your next dental visit .
To schedule an appointment at either location in Rochester Hills or St. Clair Shores, MI, start by filling out our online form .
We can fill cavities, and we can fix infected gums. But our preference is to help you prevent those problems in the first place.
This takes a team effort with you and our dental professionals working together toward the same goal — keeping your smile healthy!
A good start is scheduling a check-up twice each year. If it’s been longer than six months since your last professional cleaning, please contact us right away to set one up.
These cleanings are important, first and foremost, you get to have a professional look at your mouth. We’re looking for any signs of tooth decay and gum disease, but we’re also looking for anything suspicious that could indicate oral cancer. We hope we don’t find any of these things, but we also know that early detection can make a huge difference in the success of your treatment.
We also take X-rays to monitor any changes in the alignment of your teeth, including the eruption of wisdom teeth. If there are any changes, we’ll discuss them with you as well as what options you have for fixing any problems that may arise.
The second reason is everyone needs a professional cleaning from time to time. We certainly hope you continue to brush and floss daily, but none of us are perfect. Even the most diligent people can have plaque and tartar.
During a professional cleaning, we’ll remove any buildup on your teeth. Doing this regularly will greatly reduce your risk of many oral health problems.
Seal the Deal
Another great reason to make regular dental visits are professional services like dental sealants.
While many people will get sealants for their children, they also are an excellent option for adults as well.
Sealants provided an added layer of defense against the bacteria that caused cavities. Sealants are a coating that covers the chewing surfaces of your teeth. This creates a physical barrier between harmful bacteria and your tooth. Once applied, sealants can last for a few years.
According to the American Dental Association, sealants are proven to reduce your risk for tooth decay in your molars by 80 percent. Your molars are the large teeth in the back of your mouth that you use to chew your food. Because of their shape and their function, they are the teeth that are most likely to develop cavities.
From a cost standpoint, sealants are a small investment compared to the cost of dental fillings or crowns.
