Your Dentist Looks Forward To Seeing You
There’s a saying about eating an apple a day to keep the doctor away. This just meant to imply that eating healthy will keep you from getting sick.
It doesn’t mean you should avoid the doctor. In fact, you should visit the doctor regularly for check-ups.
The same is true for your teeth, and that means you should visit your family dentist a couple times each year for professional cleanings and examinations.
For families who live in or near Rochester Hills, MI, Hubbard & Leath Dental is the perfect place to visit for your general dentistry needs. That starts with preventive care.
Keep ‘Em Clean
Your oral hygiene is extremely important. You may not think of it this way, but your mouth is the start of your digestive system.
This is the where many things enter your body, which can affect whether you feel energetic or exhausted, ready to roll or under the weather.
By eating well and taking care of your teeth and gums, you improve your odds of feeling better most of the time. Caring for your mouth means having a good home care routine and visiting our office for regular cleanings.
You already may be aware the bacteria cause the most common health issues that affect your mouth — tooth decay and gum disease. These bacteria live in your mouth, which is why you need to take a few minutes out of every day to brush and floss.
Remember to brush for two minutes twice a day and to floss once every day. This allows you to remove most of the bacteria the build up in your mouth on a daily basis.
Even if you are diligent about your oral care, you still may miss some things depending on your brushing patterns. This is why it is important to have a professional cleaning by a dentist or hygienist from time to time.
During your cleanings, a member of our staff will remove any tartar buildup that may have developed. Our team members also remove the plaque on your teeth, and then polish them so they will look as good as they can.
Your visits aren’t just about removing plaque and tartar, however. We are also looking for symptoms of health problems and watching for any changes to your teeth.
If we notice changes in the alignment of your teeth, we will let you know what has happened and what, if anything, should be done. We will look for signs of teeth grinding, which can damage the protective enamel on your teeth.
We check for cavities and gum disease. Early detection makes the treatments much easier, less invasive, and much less expensive.
We also check our patients for oral cancer. A vast majority of the time, we don’t find anything to be worried about (which is a good thing), but if we should find something, we want you to know as soon as possible. Again, the sooner you know about a potential problem, the sooner you can visit your doctor to have it tested.
We conduct our oral cancer screenings with the ViziLite Plus with TBlue360. This is a special marking system, which helps us locate suspicious areas much better than we could with our eyes. This is one of the best cancer detection methods used today.
We are always happy to welcome new patients, including families with children.
For children 6 and under, we ask that a parent remains with the child through their cleanings and examinations. One of our concerns is for the child to feel calm and comfortable throughout his or her care.
During your son or daughter’s first visit to our office, we want to make it a fun experience. For younger children, we do this in a variety of ways.
We have special glasses for your son or daughter to wear, and we will take him or her for a ride on the dentist’s chair. This is a way of introducing them to the dental office without any pressure.
We will check your child’s teeth and gums for any problems, and after the cleaning, we will offer him or her a prize from our treasure chest and a balloon.
